The Strategic Use Of Standards Contribution Data
A select group of 8 industry experts met virtually to discuss the strategic use of standard contribution data for technologies such as 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi or video coding (HEVC/VVC).
The participants either had a technical background managing standards development teams that participated in standard meetings and that developed (sometimes patented) standardised technology or had a legal, technical background, being experts on the technical analysis of patents and standards to identify if patents are in fact essential and valid to support licensing negotiations or patent litigation around FRAND disputes.
This report summarises the challenges each participant had with key takeaways that will enable to drive efficiencies within their business.
